How to Pair the Gigawave 2K Units
Laptop Only – No Router Required
This guide explains how to set up and pair two Gigawave 2K units using only your laptop and the included PoE injectors.
You can choose between two methods:
Manual Pairing – step-by-step setup via web interface
Quick Pairing – fast automatic pairing without logging in
Do not attempt to power both units from a single injector or the same switch.
Step 1: Set Up the First 2K Unit (Access Point Mode)
Open the hatch on the bottom of the first 2K unit.
Flip the small switch marked H / C to H (H = Host = Access Point)
Use the first PoE injector:
Plug the power adapter into the injector.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the injector’s PoE port to the first 2K unit.
Connect another Ethernet cable from the injector’s LAN port to your laptop.
Set a static IP on your laptop’s network adapter. (IF NECESSARY)
Example:IP:
192.168.1.10
Subnet:
255.255.255.0
Gateway: leave blank or
192.168.1.1
(optional)
Open a web browser and go to
192.168.1.150
Log in using the default password:
gigawave
Go to the WiFi section:
Set a name for the SSID, such as
GigaAP
Set or confirm the WiFi password (default is
gigawave
)Click Save
The first unit is now configured as the Access Point.
Step 2: Set Up the Second 2K Unit (Repeater/Client Mode)
Open the hatch on the bottom of the second 2K unit.
Flip the H / C switch to C (C = Client = Repeater)
Use the second PoE injector:
Plug in the power adapter.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the injector's PoE port to the second 2K unit.
Connect the LAN port to your laptop.
Keep the laptop on the same static IP (e.g.,
192.168.1.10
)In your browser, go to
192.168.1.150
Log in using the default password :
gigawave
Go to WiFi > Repeater Setting:
Click Scan
Select the SSID you configured on the first unit (
GigaAP
)Lock to the BSSID
Enter the WiFi password
Click Save
Return to the unit’s Home page to check signal strength.
The second unit is now paired as a Repeater/Station.
Step 3: Quick Pairing (Automatic – No Web Setup Needed)
Use this method when both units are powered on, close together (at least 1 meter apart), and you want a fast way to pair them without using the web interface.
Important:
Each 2K unit must be powered using its own PoE injector.
Do not attempt to power both units from a single injector or the same switch.
Power both units separately:
Plug in the first PoE injector, and connect its PoE port to the first 2K unit
Plug in the second PoE injector, and connect its PoE port to the second 2K unit
LAN port options (after pairing is complete):
The LAN ports on each injector can be:
Left unplugged (for testing only)
Connected to a laptop to check the status or signal
Connected to a network switch or modem/router (on the H unit side)
Connected to devices like cameras or remote network equipment (on the C unit side)
Example:
The H unit should be mounted and connected near your modem/router/switch
The C unit should be mounted and connected near your shed, cameras, or remote device
Set the physical dip switches:
Set one unit to H (Host)
Set the other unit to C (Client)
The displays should show H36 and C36, indicating WiFi channel 36
Quick Pairing Steps:
Briefly press (do not hold) the RST button on the unit showing H36
Immediately after, press the RST button on the unit showing C36
Wait for pairing to complete:
Both displays will show a spinning animation
After a moment, each display will stop and show P followed by a number (e.g., P58)
The number represents signal strength in dBm
The two units are now paired and ready for use.
Finding the IP Address After Quick Pairing
After quick pairing, both units use DHCP to get an IP address, with a fallback to 192.168.1.150
.
To view the IP of each unit:
Press the F button once on the unit
The screen will show the last 3 digits of the current IP address
