Quick Start Guide to the Alta Web Portal
So you’ve set up your Alta access points and wired everything in — now what?
Alta is all about easy installation. You can use the Alta app from the Play Store or Apple App Store, but here at KD Electronics, we recommend using the web portal for a more reliable setup. We’ve tested it thoroughly, so you don’t have to waste time later. Follow these quick steps to get everything online smoothly.
Getting Started (Using a Computer)
Make sure your computer is connected to the same network where you installed the access points. The Alta web portal will automatically detect any new devices ready to be set up.
Step 1: Create an Alta Account
Sign up using your email address.
This account will be your central hub for all future setups.
Step 2: Set Up Your Network
Create a New Site
In the top-right corner, click “Add a new site”.
Give the new site a unique name that reflects the customer/location (e.g., Customer Office, Apartment 1, etc.).
Set Up Access Points (APs)
Once your APs are powered on and connected to the network, go to the “Network” tab at the top.
You will see your access points listed here under “Network” once they are detected on the local network.
Click on Set up on the right side of the screen in line with the new device that's listed.
If no devices show up:Make sure your computer is on the same physical network (LAN) as the APs.
Wait 1–2 minutes for the discovery to complete, then refresh the page.
Update the Firmware once the AP is added to your site.
You may see an icon if a firmware update is available.
Click on the icon, and choose the option to “Right Now”.
Once the update is downloaded and finished click on the icon to "Reboot Now "
It will take 2 - 5 minutes for the unit to reboot.
Always update to the latest version before final configuration.
Go to the Settings tab to create a Wi-Fi network.
Select"Add New" under the Settings tab.
Enter Wi-Fi network name, password and click save at the bottom of the page.
Please don't change the site or colour settings if not advised otherwise.
Step 3: Final Checks
Connect your phone to the new Wi-Fi SSID.
Make sure the password works.
Run a quick speed test.
